Animal ID: 17-016Skylar (male)

Havanese Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Health: Neutered

Skylar is a 7 month old Yorkie puppy boy. He weighs only 5.5 pounds. Skyler is being fostered in Winston-Salem, NC. THANK YOU TO SKYLAR'S RESCUE ANGELS! Sheila Coleman UPDATED BIO 02/11/2017: Doesn't this little love bug just make your heart go pitter-patter? Such a snuggle buddy he is. Skylar has added another month to this life and hasn't gotten any larger, so this little fellow may very well stay at 5 - 7 lbs. Skylar loves to run and play. On warm days, he is the first one out the door into the yard so he can run and run and run, fully puppy-powered. He sleeps with his person at night, and is not a bother at all. He snuggles right up ... (Read More)with his little chew-bone and when finished chewing, will go right off to sleep. He waits until Foster Mom wakes and then gives her sweet, soft puppy kisses. This little pup is certainly a charmer, soft as cotton, and just sweet as sugar. You can see more photos of little Skyler at Foster Mom's Facebook page - A NC Yorkie Rescue or e-mail her at the address below. Updated Bio 1/24/17: After a good grooming, examining this little guy a little closer focusing on his coat and color, as well as observing him interacting with other pups, we believe Skylar is a Havashire. The Havashire is a a cross breed of the Yorkshire Terrier and Havanese. The Havashire is an alert, protective, friendly, affectionate, intelligent and loyal dog. This mixed breed is a good dog to have with other pets and kids, as he interacts well with them. Their temperament is calmer, less barking than the Yorkie, more playful and very friendly. They do have a tendency to be a little bit of a challenge to train, however this little guy is getting used to going in and out of the house and has even began to use the pad as he watches others and picks up their habits quickly. Skylar, although puppy powered at the moment, will become a moderately active dog, and will need regular exercise to keep him in good shape. He is perfect for taking long walks and having daily trips to the dog park if you do not have a fenced in area where this little guy can get out and exercise. This breed sheds minimally, meaning he does have some shedding, just very little. This breed is still recommended for those with allergies. Their average size ranges from 7 - 13 lbs. So please be aware, if you are looking for a pup to remain small (5lbs) Skylar is not going to deliver. At this time he is underweight. Due to their coat, they must be brushed daily as matting of the fur occurs without proper maintenance. He did rather well with our first grooming experience. He took well to the bath, enjoying the soap and loving the towel dry. He loves to be brushed, however he is not too friendly yet with the blow dryer. He tolerated the trim as he was matted underneath due to neglect in grooming. His fur and skin are in excellent condition and by the time we were finished Skylar had accepted the use of scissors, battery operated trimmer and the cleaning of eyes and ears. He is a true joy and once he is able to obtain a little weight this little pup is going to be a spectacular pup to look upon. Initial Bio 1/19/17 Skylar is a beautiful black and tan Yorkie Havanese mix pup with a full tail! So far we know he is very playful, soft as cotton and is sweet as sugar. Skylar is full of bounce and energy. He hasn't stopped jumping since he got out of the car except to deliver those puppy breath Yorkie kisses. He behaved perfectly on his 2 hour freedom ride. Skylar has a Dogtor visit scheduled for this morning. Keep a look out for more info, but you better believe this little fellow is going to be the most wanted Yorkie around! Get your applications in now for this sweet boy so you can get on the list. The higher up at the top of the adoption list you are, the closer you are to having this bundle of love for your very own!
