Rescue Me ID: 16-10-18-00257Dakota-PENDING! (male)

Havanese Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

When we are asked about a special rescue pup that is snuggly, sweet and very fun-loving, we can't help but think of Dakota. His smile is shining...and maybe just a bit mischievous. Dakota's rescuer was very quick to tell us that he is SO much more handsome than his photo. She said that he does have beautiful and expressive eyes (they can't be seen in his photo but they're there and gorgeous!). Once he has a much-needed grooming, Dakota's face will show the adorable features of the Havanese and the scruffy cuteness of the Terrier. This curious and really, really smart 12 - 18 month old, 23 lb guy is a truly great companion. There aren't ... (Read More)visible signs that Dakota was in a very scary high-kill shelter. His rescuer described this gorgeous boy as perfect! She gave the following info about sweet Dakota: Dakota is a calm yet playful guy who really is so sweet and kind. He's a lovebug who wants nothing more than to warm your lap and be devoted and SO sweet! He's respectful in my house (maybe too busy playing and having fun) and has been very trustworthy. He's great with me, my husband, our 3 kids (from 10 - 15 years old) and our 2 dogs. Dakota's lucky new family will be getting a true gem! We can picture Dakota as the best friend to retirees. He'd be so loyal.. and overjoyed to share his love and good will on a daily basis. Dakota would also do well in a family with dog-loving kids and other gentle dogs. He'd love the fun and active lifestyle...a hike or long walk would put Dakota over the moon. There's also no question that Dakota would be the most popular guy on the block. He loves to engage and just be his entertaining, adorable self. Even though Dakota is usually up for pretty much any activity, he's not pushy or yappy. Exercise..perhaps long, leisurely walks or hikes along Colorado mountain trails ..and mental stimulation that comes from his time with his humans is important to this guy to keep him happy and well-behaved. We've requested that Dakota be neutered prior to his transport to Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to far too few vets in this industrial area of Kansas. If it doesn't, Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Dakota's's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used. This adorable and really humorous Havanese/Terrier mix is a non-shedding guy. Dakota will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his stunning coat cottony-soft and matt-free. Dakota is currently being fostered in the Denver area. Meet & Greets are being set up and applications are being accepted and can be found at If you're interested in this sweet and cuddly pup, please fill out and return to or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl Street Boulder, CO 80302. Rescue Me ID: 16-10-07-00579Bryce-ADOPTION PENDING (male)

Havanese Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Bryce would be such a perfect companion for anyone who is searching for that loyal and loving lap dog. At just 9 - 12 months old and 17 lbs ...such a perfect age and size to be able to hike the mountain trails or have fun in the park. Bryce is so portable that he can be a full-time best friend...accompanying his guardians everywhere a small and wonderful dog is allowed. Bryce was a last-minute save for us...he would have been euthanized in a dismal Texas shelter if kind TX rescuers hadn't stepped up. But how could they not have? This little dog is just so awesome with his whole life lying in front of him...a life in which he can ... (Read More)bring so much joy to a special family. Bryce, as a young guy is a blank slate waiting to learn about the world. With positive guidance and socialization out in the community, Bryce will be a well-behaved and very bonded best friend. Bryce is an all-time snuggler and will cuddle his way into any heart. He may be a bit shy initially as transport and rehoming is challenging for any pup...but with love and nurturing, he will absolutely shine. We envision Bryce with either a retired couple or individual...he would be overjoyed with the time he could spend in their company. It's not that Bryce is a needy or whiny guy...not at all...he just loves the company of his humans who respect him for all his wonderful traits. Bryce likes children and enjoys playing with them...but we would only be open to older kids who can be gentle and understanding that Bryce only weighs 17 lbs and needs soft and kind handling. For those family members who enjoy walks and time outside in the beautiful Colorado scenery...Bryce would love nothing more than to share the experience. He is always up for a walk..fascinated by the activity around him. He breathes in the happy to be free of the dismal shelter environment. Then...maybe his favorite's time to end the day with hugs, belly rubs and a warm spot on the bed or couch beside his favorite people. Bryce is a non-shedding guy considered by many to be among the most hypoallergenic breed mix available today. He will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his coat cottony-soft and matt-free. Bryce will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 10/14/16. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at If you're interested in this sweet and cuddly best, please fill out and return to, fax to 303-443-7730 or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl Street Boulder, CO 80302. lnteresting Havanese Trivia Low-Cost Colorado Spay & Neuter Clinics
Havanese are great dogs for allergy sufferers. Havanese may not eat unless they have company; some will pick up a big mouthful of food and carry it to another room to be with their owner, drop it on the floor, and eat it one piece at a time. Havanese were used as circus performers in 19th century Europe. Many Cuban aristocrats were forced to leave their Havanese when they fled to America during the Cuban Revolution.
