Stuart is a 3 yea old, 21lbs, Poodle/Havanese/maybe terrier? mix. Stuart was dumped at a shelter in Houston Texas with 7 other dogs. When they were brought to the shelter none of them had any fur, and they were all neglected and terrified. The woman who dumped them requested that the shelter euthanize them just because she did not want to take care of them anymore (not that she had been taking care of them in the first place) and she did not believe that they were adoptable and did not care. Our rescue saw the potential of these sweet babies and took in all 8 to get them healthy and hopefully to eventually find them forever homes. Some ... (Read More)were more emotionally damaged than others, and unfortunately Stuart was the worst of the group. He is just SO SWEET and has never shown any signs of aggression, but it is very clear that humans have not been so kind to him and he is very skittish and terrified. At this point all of Stuarts hair has grown back and he is a healthy, handsome little boy! He has now been in foster care for almost 3 months and we are starting to look for a forever home for him. Stuart gets along with all dogs and cats. His foster mom lives alone and he has really come out of his shell with her. He sleeps in her bed now with the rest of the dogs in the house, and absolutely LOVES to play fetch and chase with all the other dogs. Stuart loves to snuggle with his foster mom and is pretty much her shadow all the time. When guests come to the house Stuart quickly retreats and goes back into his kennel. He does not get aggressive in any way, but you can tell he is still scared of people, especially if he has not had time learn to trust them. Stuart is fully potty trained and is truly the sweetest and best dog. His long legs allow him to do incredibly fast zumies in the back yard and to out run all the other dogs :) At this time we think it would be best to find Stuart a home with a family that has lots of patience and can work to earn Stuarts trust, and a family that understands how rewarding it will be once he becomes a wonderful dog. We would prefer a home without kids just because a lower key home seems to be what Stuarts enjoys most. A back yard is a must for Stuart so he can do his zumies and play fetch with his new family. It would be awesome if his new family has a dog that he can learn from and gain confidence from, but that is not a must. We just want Stuart to be loved and appreciated for the great little guy he is! If you are interested in adopting Stuart, please email us for an application at (Less)
